It\’s Gonna Be May Blog Tour
Welcome to Petite Stitchery It\’s Gonna Be May Blog Tour. The blog tour will run over a course of 6 days. Please be sure to check out all the amazing designs and hacks highlighted on throughout this blog tour.
We all know April Showers bring May Flowers so with that in mind, I thought it would be the perfect time to sew up some florals. So I decided to use Art Gallery Swifting Flora rayon challis from the Boho Fusion collection that I purchased from Punkin Threads. This was my first time sewing with rayon challis. It is slippery and has some stretch so make sure you check your measurements thrice when cutting. I also recommend using fine pins and a lot of clips to secure the fabric.
I made the new Sunflower dress. The sunflower is packed with options like knee, maxi length and skirt. It is so stylish and can be dressed up or down. I will be making several of these for two weddings we will be attending this summer. The dress has long sleeves, flutter sleeves and sleeveless option. I made the knee length with a modification to the ruffle on the bodice.
The modification was inspired by Vintage 1960\’s wrap dress. I was going for a style similar to Simplicity 7715.I achieved this look by sewing the ruffle right sides together. I press the seam towards the bodice and then topstitched along the ruffle to secure it in place. I am overall very pleased with how the dress came out.
